- June
It’s been twelve minutes.
- Ari
Fourteen. I’m counting.
- June
Why are you counting?
- Ari
Something to do. My phone’s dead.
- June
Mine’s at four percent. I’m saving it for an emergency.
- Ari
This isn’t an emergency?
- June
This is a Tuesday.
- Ari
Where were you going?
- June
Home from a date.
- Ari
How was it?

He talked about his podcast for two hours. He doesn’t have a podcast. He’s planning one.
- Ari
I’m coming home from a date too.
- June
How was yours?
- Ari
She didn’t show.
- June
Oh. I’m sorry.
- Ari
It’s fine. I sat there for an hour with a candle. The waiter brought me free bread out of pity. Best bread I’ve ever had.
- June
Was it the place on Delancey? With the candles in jars?
- Ari
Yeah. How did you know?
- June
I was there. Podcast guy. Two tables over. I watched you eat that whole basket.
- Ari
No.
- June
It was the best part of my night.
The train jolts forward.
- June
Oh. We’re moving.
- Ari
I could ride a few more stops.
