An AI scene partner that reads with you, on cue.

No reader tonight? Bring your sides, cast yourself, and run the scene out loud. Sides reads every other character and waits for you to finish your line before it comes in. Try it right here: say Andrew’s lines and Fletcher answers.

Ready

Whiplash, the practice room

FLETCHER

Were you rushing or were you dragging?

ANDREW

I don't know.

FLETCHER

Start counting.

ANDREW

One, two, three, four.

FLETCHER

Not quite my tempo. Again.

The microphone opens when you startReader: Fletcher

A reader that listens instead of reading at you.

Most line-reading apps play the other side on a timer. The scene partner hears you, so the scene moves at your pace.

  • On cue

It listens for the end of your line and comes in when the scene is ready to move, not after a fixed pause.

  • A voice for each character

Give every other role in the scene its own voice, or one voice for all of them.

  • Takes direction

Ask for a whisper, a laugh, a sigh or a beat before a line, the way you would in the room.

  • You stay in control

Jump to the next line with the arrow key when you want to move on, or stop the run whenever you like.

From sides to a run-through in a minute.

  1. 01

    Bring the sides

Paste or upload the scene. Sides finds the characters and who speaks when.

  2. 02

    Cast yourself

Pick your role and a voice for the reader, and give the lines any direction they need.

  3. 03

    Run it out loud

Press play and say your lines. The reader answers, waits, and keeps the scene moving.

Questions about the scene partner

What is an AI scene partner?
A reader for the other characters in your scene. Sides reads their lines in a realistic voice, listens while you speak, and comes in when your line is done, so you can rehearse or tape without a human reader.
Does it really listen to me?
Yes. During a run the microphone is on so the reader can hear where your line ends. It only listens while a rehearsal is running.
Can each character sound different?
Yes. Give each other role its own voice, or use one voice for everyone. You can also ask for a whisper, a laugh or a pause on a specific line.
Can I use it while I record a self-tape?
Yes. The record page puts the same reader in the take, with your lines on screen, so the tape has a scene partner in it.
Is the scene partner free?
You can try it on this page without an account. In the app, 3 scene partner sessions a month come with Sides Pro, and Sides Super Pro is unlimited.
